Meet Mitch
Mitch Johnson is the founder of Rocky Mountain Counseling Services and a counselor dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and families through compassionate, neurodivergent-affirming care. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Mexican American Studies and his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, shaping a strong foundation in cultural humility, social justice, and inclusive mental health practice.
Mitch has experience working in both school-based and clinical settings, where he has supported students and families navigating anxiety, emotional regulation, ADHD, autism, and other neurodevelopmental differences. He specializes in working with neurodivergent individuals and takes a strengths-based, individualized approach that honors each client’s unique identity and needs.
As someone who personally lives with ADHD and parents two neurodivergent children, Mitch brings both professional expertise and lived experience into his work. This perspective allows him to deeply understand the challenges—and the strengths—that come with neurodivergence. He is passionate about creating supportive spaces where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered to grow.
Mitch is especially committed to serving culturally and ethnically diverse communities and strives to provide affirming, accessible care to all individuals and families seeking support.

Mitch’s Approach

He often integrates creative, ecotherapy and experiential techniques into his sessions to engage clients in meaningful, accessible ways that resonate with their lived experiences. He enjoys utilizing the healing powers of nature to facilitate balance & regulation.
Through a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach, he stives to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust and safety, establishing a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood.
